Gangotri

Gangotri Pilgrimage is a town and a Nagar Panchayat (region) in Uttarkashi area in the territory of Uttarakhand, India. It is a Hindu traveler town on the banks of the stream Bhagirathi. It is on the Greater Himalayan Range, at a tallness of 3,100m.

Gangotri, the starting point of the River Ganges and seat of the goddess Ganga, is one of the four locales in the Chota Char Dham journey circuit.The stream is called Bhagirathi at the source and gets the name Ganga (the Ganges) from Devprayag onwards where it meets the Alaknanda. The starting point of the heavenly waterway is at Gaumukh, set in the Gangotri Glacier, and is a 19 km trek from Gangotri Pilgrimage. As per Hindu folklore, Goddess Ganga appeared as a stream to exonerate the transgressions of King Bhagiratha’s ancestors, following his serious compensation of a few centuries.


Kedarnath

Kedarnath is a town situated in the Indian territory of Uttarakhand and has picked up significance in light of Kedarnath Temple.
