From Sonprayag, a short drive or shared transport will take you to Gaurikund, the base camp for the trek to Kedarnath.

Gaurikund holds great significance in Hindu mythology, as it is believed to be the place where Goddess Parvati performed penance to win Lord Shiva’s affection. Here, you can take a holy dip in the natural hot springs before beginning the 19 km trek to Kedarnath.
